What's first? - Sequencing

     Chapter 6- Read and discuss on Moodle.

Getting Things in Order
     I'm gong to let the textbook take the lead this week. I think we're also far enough into this course and this process so that you have a good idea where this is leading us.

Summarizing and Outlining Sequencing
     In short, let's consider learning-related sequencing, world-related sequencing and concept-related sequencing.

     Learning-related

Do this before you can do the next step ----> Do this after you learned the earlier step
What's common and familiar ----> What's new and different
What's simpler and easier ----> What's more challenging
What they like and where they have interest ----> What's not as interesting or exciting
What they know ----> What they don't know based on what they know

     World-related

Left
Top
N orth

----> Right
Bottom
South
What comes first ----> What comes later; second third, etc.
Small
Large
White
----> Large
Small
Black (or visa versa)

     Concept-related
The entire class ----> Individuals in the class
Examples ----> Propostion or theory
Simple and concrete ----> Complex and abstract
What comes logically first ----> What comes logially next

     The assignment at this time is to establish objectives for the unit that you have chosen and to start moving toward sequencing the objectives and then designing the appropriate activities and strategies. The idea is to have this all laid out by next week Monday, May 3.
