Podcasting Assignment - Due in two weeks
Using GarageBand, create a short educational podcast on a topic of your choice:
-
Your podcast will have an educational theme
-
Should be in the 2-3 minute range
-
Will not be able to include still images or a video track
-
Will include a recorded voice track
-
Will include music that is appropriate to your message
-
May include other sounds.
When your podcast is complete, export it to
the desktop. Save a copy of your podcast in your public_html
folder.
To turn in your assignment, save the copy in public_html. We will
then be able to download your podcast to view it.
Images or video (not available on version 9 and 10)
You may put visuals into your Podcast in any of the following
ways:
1. Locate images online and download them. Put them in iPhoto
to add them to your podcast or just on your desktop
2. Use a camera to capture your own images
3. Use Jing to capture screencasts (see below)
4. Use iMovie to create a video file and use video instead of
still images in your podcast
Jing
Jing is no longer loaded on our computers in the lab. Therefore ignore the following. You can find it
in the Applications folder inside the Macintosh hard drive (the
icon labeled “untitled” in the upper right corner
of the screen). We will demonstrate Jing in class. It is a very
simple program to use, so rather than writing instructions,
here are links to two short demonstration videos:
Using Jing to capture images: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZKhz0tSVII
Using Jing to capture video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A1jw8O0z4S0
You can download Jing at no cost from http://www.jingproject.com. It will run on either a Mac
or a PC. The free version of the program saves videos as .swf
files which must be played back on a website. You can upload
them to Jing’s own screencasting website, or you can save
them and add them to your own website.
