Magellan

Magellan is the largest of the edited search engines. It contains both a regular database of sites and a database of reviewed sites. These databases can be searched separately.

Searching is done via keywords. Magellan rates sites from one to four stars. You can set limits to your search by indicating the lower limit to the star rating of sites retrieved. Magellan uses a green light to indicate that the site is viewable by all-ages.

Magellan is an efficient way to search for common topics (it previews sites for you). However, it is probably not the best resource to use in searching uncommon topics.
