Qualitative Research Methods
This course is an advanced survey of qualitative research methods commonly used in geographic research. Theoretical and ethical questions are considered as integral to research practice.

Learning Outcomes: This course focuses on one of the learning outcomes established for geography at Western Oregon, that students will, "Becoming conversant in geographic thought and practice".

More particularly, students will:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of how to select research methods for specific projects.
  • Practice the conduct of qualitative research.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of key theoretical and ethical questions in qualitative research.
Format: This class is discussion and practice oriented. Content is tailored to individual interests and needs. Class time is used both for group meetings and individual instruction.
