Extensions & make-ups

Please consult individual assignments for policies regarding missed deadlines and late work.

However, as a general matter, you should contact me about extensions and make-ups as soon as possible, and preferably on or before an assignment is due. Do not count on being able to turn in or complete any assignment late for full credit without prior arrangement.

When requesting an extension or make-up, I recommend that you submit your request in writing even if we have a verbal agreement. I may make an extension or make-up contingent on written submission. The best way to do this is via e-mail hustons@wou.edu.

Regardless of circumstance, once you choose to remain enrolled in a class, you are responsible for fulfilling course requirements within at least miminal expectations for a passing grade. In some cases, circumstances may mean that dropping or withdrawing from a class is your best option. Consult the Academic Calendar for the relevant deadlines for those actions.

In other cases, a grade of either "F" or "X" maybe unavoidable. "X" means "no basis for grade". The X is reserved for students who complete less than fifteen (15) percent of graded work and/or who fail to appear in class. An X will be not be calculated into your GPA at WOU, but may have reprecussions for your financial aid status.

I will only assign a grade of "I", or Incomplete, in consultation with a student. The I is meant for students who are on track to pass a course, but, due to circumstance, are unable to finish their graded work during the term. Normally, you will have twelve months to have an I changed to a regular letter grade. As with the X, an I will not be calculated into your GPA, but may have implications for financial aid.
