Project Description:

In the Fall of 2009, a high-level concept paper was developed and disseminated for review by childhood care and education partners in the child care system. The concept paper was designated as the Education and Quality Investments Partnership (EQUIP) initiative because it included considerable input from and a promise of funding for activities from the Oregon Community Foundation.

The EQUIP initiative is composed of two high level outcomes: infrastructure improvements and incentive programs for both individuals and facilities. The project that Teaching Research Institute is conducting relates to the improvement of facilities. In Year 1 the Oregon Program of Quality (OPQ) was researched, developed, piloted with child care facilities in Oregon and adopted by the EQUIP Advisory Group. Year 2 will implement the program with a cohort of 25 child care and education facilities.
