POW Directions
For each POW assignment, you will be given a specific problem to solve.
Common Core State Standards (CCSS)
The Common Core State Standards Initiative ( www.corestandards.org ) is a state-led effort developed in collaboration with teachers, school administrators, and experts, to provide a clear and consistent framework to prepare our children for college and the workforce. At this writing the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) have already been adopted by 45 states, the District of Columbia and 4 territories and will have a significant influence on school curricula across the country.
Because the CCSS are so important, you will be asked a few questions in which you look at specific standards and/or practices and answer a few questions about them. To answer the CCSS questions:
- Read the CCSS question (use the link on the homework and schedule page and scroll to the correct question number).
- Go to the CCSS math standards and practices via this link. Carefully read the corresponding component of the CCSS math standards and practices (the question will say where to look) .
- Answer the question. You may hand write or type.
