VERIFICATION FAQ

Listed below are typical questions for verification-related inquiries. If you do not see your question listed below, contact our office at 503-838-8327 or registrar@wou.edu.

I am a student and need enrollment/full-time status verification (for non-loan deferment related purposes). Where can I obtain this type of verification?

You can log in to your student portal account at wou.edu/portal. Then click on the Wolf Web icon.  Once in Wolf Web, go to “Student Menu” and then “Enrollment Verification.” Follow the links to “Obtain an Enrollment Certificate.” Be sure to select the time of enrollment you need (Current, All, etc.). This will provide you with a WOU endorsed/Clearinghouse Verified copy of your official enrollment and status.

If you have never logged in before, you can click on the “Account Lookup” link and follow the steps to gain access.  If you run into technical difficulties logging into your student account, you can contact University Computing Services at 503-838-8925 or ucshelpdesk@wou.edu.

I was awarded a scholarship that needs proof of registration/enrollment. How do I get this?

Most scholarship companies will accept a copy of an acceptance letter to WOU and a copy of your schedule of classes as proof of registration/enrollment. To obtain a copy of your schedule of classes, you will need to log in to your student portal account at wou.edu/portal/. Then click on the Wolf Web Icon.  Once in Wolf Web, go to “Student Menu” then “Registration & Schedule” and then “Student Detail Schedule”.

If you have never logged in before, you can click on the “Account Lookup” link and follow the steps to gain access.  If you run into technical difficulties logging into your student account, you can contact University Computing Services at 503-838-8925 or ucshelpdesk@wou.edu.

I am a Third Party Representative that needs degree/enrollment verification on a student. Where can I obtain this information?

Degree and Enrollment verification services are provided by the National Student Clearinghouse.  Click here to request verification through the National Student Clearinghouse.  If you experience errors, feel free to contact our office at 503-838-8327 or registrar@wou.edu.

NOTE:  If a student has “confidential” on their file, we will be unable to release or acknowledge information including directory information without a FERPA-compliant release. Click here for information about directory/non-directory information and what is required to release information.

I am a SACM student that needs degree/enrollment verification. Where can I obtain this information?

If you are needing verification of enrollment, online-hybrid coursework, anticipated date of graduation, credits earned, what if I change my major/minor, or other requests, you will need to fill out the verification enrollment request link in your student portal.  Requests can take up to 5 business days to be processed by our office.

Please allow ample time for us to process your request as quickly as possible. If you have extenuating circumstances, contact our office at 503-838-8327 or registrar@wou.edu.

I need to know the grades I received in classes/my academic standing/academic major/GPA for past terms of enrollment. How can I verify these things?

You can log in to your student portal at wou.edu/portal/.  Then click on the Wolf Web icon.  Once in Wolf Web, go to “Student Menu” then “Student Records” then “Unofficial Transcripts.” This should answer all of your questions about class grades, academic standing, academic major, and GPA. There is also a GPA Calculator available if manual input is required.

If you run into a “hold” related message, you can click on the “View Holds” link under “Student Records.” Make sure to clear all holds through the appropriate department(s). Once the holds are removed, you should be able to access your unofficial transcripts.

If you need an official document with these items on it, you can order an official transcript by visiting our transcript website.

Where can I find course descriptions for current/past courses?

You can find catalogs with course descriptions from fall 2003 through the current term here: Online Catalogs

If you need course descriptions before the fall of 2003, you can send a list of all courses and terms they were taken (e.g. Fall 1989: BI 101, FR 202, etc.) to our office at registrar@wou.edu, or fax it to 503-838-9696 attn: Course Description Verifications, or mail to:

Please include the method that you would like them returned (fax, email, mail, etc.).

If I have a verification form that needs to be filled out or I need a verification letter, what do I do?

Make sure you have filled out any information requested of you before sending it to WOU. You can bring verification forms to Room 104 of the Lieuallen Administration Building, or fax documents to 503-838-9696, or scan them as an email PDF attachment and email to registrar@wou.edu or mail them to:

When sending in forms, be aware of what you are authorizing us to verify and be sure all portions about you are completed. If there is no place to sign your name on the form, be sure to include a brief statement authorizing us to fill the form out with your handwritten signature on it.

Where can I update personal information such as address/phone number?

You can log in to your student portal account at wou.edu/portal. Then click on the Wolf Web icon and click on the “Personal Information” tab.  This will allow you to access a menu on how to update your personal information.

How long do verification requests take to process?

Requests can take up to 5 business days to be processed by our office. Please allow ample time for us to process your request as quickly as possible. If you have extenuating circumstances, contact our office at 503-838-8327 or registrar@wou.edu.
