Western Oregon University is engaged in a comprehensive strategic planning process. The work began in April 2016 with the appointment of a 25 person Strategic Planning Committee (SPC). The SPC has engaged in a comprehensive process to evaluate the university’s mission, vision and values. The SPC also engaged in a review and analysis of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. The SPC has developed a draft plan and expects to finalize its work in late 2016 or early 2017. Strategic planning is a systematic process though which an organization agrees on—and builds commitment among key stakeholders to—priorities that are essential to its mission and are responsive to the environment. Strategic planning guides the acquisition and allocation of resources to achieve these priorities.
