Diane E. Tarter - Interim Dean

WOU’s College of Liberal Arts & Sciences is here to help you build bridges to your future.

You can prepare for many careers through our degree programs in creative arts, humanities, and natural, social and behavioral sciences, as well as business, computer science and gerontology.  At WOU, you will develop the key qualities of a liberal education – critical thinking, inquiry and analysis, clear written and spoken communication, effective work in teams, ethical judgment – qualities that employers seek and our communities need.

WOU students learn in our classrooms, labs, library, studios, and theaters. They learn by serving WOU and our local community.  At WOU, curious people come together and learn from each other.  You will learn not just from our faculty but also from other students, peers from across Oregon, the US and the world.

At WOU, you can identify a problem or gap in our knowledge and seek solutions or answers. You can tackle a difficult text and draw out its insights.  You can rise to the challenge of capturing an idea in movement or music or visual form.  You can apply what you have learned in school to the real world through service learning, internships and international study.

Guided by professors who love what they do, you will be an active participant in your education and part of a community of learners.

WOU welcomes all students into our close-knit community.  Many of our students are the first in their families to attend college, carrying forward the hopes of their families.  No matter what your background – traditional college student, first generation student, veteran, international student, transfer or returning student – our faculty and staff are committed to working with you as you successfully complete your college degree.
