Thank you for your interest in Western Oregon University! I originally hail from the Willamette Valley, specifically Albany, and graduated from West Albany High School. As a student at WOU, I was actively involved in student leadership, including the Orientation PLUS Team and the Residence Hall Association. After earning a Bachelors Degree in History from WOU in 1995, I completed my graduate program in College Student Services Administration at Oregon State University. After working for the Admissions Office at Northwest College in Wyoming, I returned to WOU in June of 1998.
Allow me to share two pieces of advice regarding the college search process. First, visit the colleges you are interested in and take advantage of weekend visitation programs. Visitation program are generally free to families and highlight all aspects of the institution. Second, pay attention to all deadlines concerning admissions, financial aid, scholarships and campus housing. Recognize that financial aid and scholarships are awarded to qualified students on a first-come, first-serve basis.
