Math 213
Fall Term 2012


The following rubric will be used to score all of the Activity written problems and many of the Text written problems assigned in Math 213.

Assessment per problem (10 points)
(US) Understanding & Strategy
0 Unclear/undeveloped
  (shows no understanding of the math in the problem or no evidence of strategy or only guess and check is used)
1 Partial
  (shows only some understanding of the math in the problem or strategy is only partially effective or partially clear)
2 Good/Effective
  (understands all of the math in the problem and an effective strategy that will solve the problem is clearly in use)

(AC) Accuracy

0 Incorrect
  (all of the problem)
1 Partial
  (partially correct)
2 Correct
  (completely correct)

(CP) Completeness

0 Mostly missing
  (has written very little that explains how the answer was achieved)
1 Partial
 

(shows the solution without saying anything about how it was determined)

2 Complete
 

(all of the important steps taken to solve the problem are shown)

(CM) Communication

0 Poor
  (another reader can not follow your work)
1 Adequate
  (another reader will be unclear on why you did some steps)
2 Good
 

(another reader can follow your answer easily and understand why you did each step)

(PC) Presentation & Clarity

0 Unclear/undeveloped
  (messy or hard to read or disorganized)
1 Partial
  (only partially organized or only some parts are easy to read and follow)
2 Good/Effective
  (well organized and easy to read and follow and the answer is clearly identifiable and sketches or diagrams are neat, clear and well labeled)
