Make sure you have the COURSE MATERIALS listed on the class syllabus. Register for MyMathLab on Course Compass. Your first web assignments are due Monday, September 24tth on Course Compass. (There are instructions for registering for Course Compass on the course on www.coursecompass.com)

Note: If you took a class on Course Compass with the same textbook last term, you do not have to re-purchase the access to MyMathLab on Course Compass. You may register with the same textbook and skip the fee

2. LOOK OVER the class web pages, If you have a home computer, bookmark the class web pages. Note your assignments for today include:
 
i)
Read Section 5.2 (§5.2) and 5.3 in your textbook-due Wednesday, 9/26
 
ii)
The email assignment listed below-due Thursday, 9/27, 12 midnight

Download the Math 95score sheet (Excel) and save in your personal directory. As the term progresses, input your earned scores and track your Math 95 grade. The sheet is protected so you can only enter scores in the "my scores" cells.

3. YOUR STUDENT WOU EMAIL ACCOUNT
All official university and class business and announcements will be directed to your WOU student email account. If you do not regularly check this account, please log in to this account and FORWARD your WOU email to an account that you do regularly access.
4. Using your WOU student email account, EMAIL Ron Wiebe: wieber@wou.edu. Email due by Thursday, 9/27 at 12 midnight. This email assignment is worth 5 homework points. Email assignments that do not have all the required information will be returned with a score of zero. In the email, please include the following.

  • Brief college biography
    What year at WOU is this for you? If you went to a college prior to WOU, which school and for how long?
  • What college math classes have you taken, what grades did you earn in these classes?
  • What is your major

II. Mathography

  • Where and when did you take your last math class?
  • How do you feel about math?
  • Did you take a math class here at WOU last term?
  • Who was your teacher?
  • What grade did you earn in your last math class? Were you happy with this grade?
  • Why did you earn the grade you earned (conceptual, please don't explain your course %)?
  • If you would prefer to improve your grade from previous terms, what things might you do to create that for yourself?
  • If you are repeating Math 095, what is your plan for success this term? How does this compare to previous Math 095 plans?

III. Office Hours

  • Please look at my office hours and compare it to your schedule. Let me know if those hours would work for you to get help from me.
  • If those hours conflict with your schedule and you will not be able to come for help, please let my know your plan for success if you need assistence during the term.
