Butterflyfish

The Pufferfish is also known as the blowfish, fugu, swellfish, and globefish. When the fish is threatened, it will puff up to almost twice it size by gulping water.

There are roughly100 species of pufferfish. Most pufferfish are found in sub-tropical and tropical marine waters in the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans.

Pufferfish are poisnous to eat because they contain a poison called etrodoxin in many parts of their bodies. So far, there is no known antidote for the poison. There are some Japanese chefs who prepare a type of pufferfish in a way that minimized the poison, however, many people have still died from eating the fish.

Pufferfish are meat-eaters. They are able to kill and eat their food with their heavy fused teeth. They eat corals, sponges, sea urchins, and small crustaceans.
