Report for the week
I've been working on Winter 2007 end of term report this week and last week. I met with admissions and we cleaned up several pre-banner student records and added accurate admit decision information to them. It took a bit of work (along with the registrar's office pulling the files from the vault), but this way these records will not be a problem in future reports.
I added the Oregon SSID number to the scarf report.
I worked on a first time freshman report that needed athlete and athletic aid information for OUS. This data was not available in their scarf database since it was never loaded into Banner until this last year. We had a gap in our data for 99-00 00-01 so I loaded those into Banner last year for out NCAA reporting. Health and PE filled in the athletic aid indicator for the rest of the report.
Last week we had a problem where a student dropped multiple courses and for some reason, one of the courses ended up getting a X error flag status on it. There's very little documentation about this error except that it mean "delete". I looked at the registration code and it seems that the course should have been deleted but it didn't for some unknown reason. The audit table showed it sucessfully deleted the course registration though. I had the registrar's office do a "DD" (drop-delete) on that course and it seemed to fix the student's record.
I added an old mod back from banner 5 to BWSKALOG that fixes quick admit apps where a student used lower case characters for their name. It's in DEV right now and as soon as it's tested, I'll add it to production.
I met with the Registrar's Office and showed them how to enter military leave cohorts into Banner via SGASADD. I'll be adding some new code soon to the scarf report to fetch these when I run the degree report.
BWCKGENS font and fee mod is in production.
I worked on a generic string value load script for powerfaids for financial aid last week. The script is called gen_load.sql and it has the general formatting for the flatfile for a regular string value. When I get the time, I'm going to make it a little more generic so that I can read a flat file and have customized output.
Installed Edexpress 4.0 06-07 foro Financial Aid.
I did several non-standard updates to fix "ZZZ", "157" nation codes in Banner.
Reports this week:
List of events from SLBEVNT for Registrar's Office.
OIDS majors for Registrar's Office.
Grad lists, honor roll, suspended lists to Registrar.
Original admit decision dates for Admissions.

BWCKGENS.P_ListCrse ( web class search page )
I put a modification in the package bwckgens.p_listcrse so that any courses that have non-standard start and end dates will appear in red on the web. Also included in the mod is 2 new columns fee and fee type. This will list any fees associated with the course and what type of fee it is (flat or by credit hour). I made a new table data font class in web_defaultapp.css called TABLE TD.ddred. This class has the red font type definitions.

Report for the week
I met with the Business Office and Financial Aid this week to fix a few scarf category codes so that we matched the numbers from FIS. We had a few codes that needed to get changed to different categories and added a few new ones. We're up to date on those now until new codes are added.
I worked on a mod to the class search (BWCKGENS) on banner web this week to add fees and fee types to the search results. I also added red fonts to courses that don't follow the typical term dates. These are consistent to the online schedule of classes app on Aero. I have this mod in DEV right now and just need the registrar's office to test. We'll probably go live with these changes next week.
I fixed a problem with the financial aid admissions load where the attempted and earned hours were not loading. It had to do with formatting of the flat file, I needed to subtract an additional 40 characters since the last time I worked on it.
While working on the admission load, there was one student who's gpa was not loading in pfaids and it turns out that the curriculum for this student did not backfill correctly in SGBSTDN. It turns out that we only had two of these bad records so I worked with Josh and we got those fixed by changing the curriculum on them.
Did a small update today to powerfaids for Pell changes.
I'm currently working on an athlete report for OUS (IPEDS) and running scarf winter end of term report.
Reports this week:
Course list by division/department for the Education department.
Graduate data report, licensure/endorsement report for the Provost Office.

Report for the week
Some of the things I've been working on lately...
There was a problem with the clearing house report where some of the dual enrolled students were being flagged as half time or less than half time depending on how many credits they had at western. The half-time and less than half time logic was overriding the dual enrolled code because of where it executed it in the script. This is fixed now, just needed to move all the dual enrolled logic to the end of the script.
I finished up the scarf degree supplemental for 2003-06 and validated the numbers. For now, any basic and advanced math endorsements are mapped as a single math endorsement until OUS adds the new endorsements to the data dictionary. There's also a problem with the way authorizations are being reported for the degree term. They seem to be hard-coded with spring term for all of them so that something I'll be working on soon to try to resolve. Unfortunately there's no easy fix for this since authorizations are date based (actually entered in as transcript comments) so I'll have to build in some logic to select a term based on date.
I did 2 powerfaids updates for Financial Aid this week. 12.1NA to 12.2N then to 12.2NA.
I worked on the admissions and end of term reports for Financial Aid this week. Financial aid used the EOT report more than the admissions report to load into powerfaids because it had all the data they needed. But I fixed it now so that both reports have completely different data that they output. Admissions report has admissions data (admit decision, admit term, residency, gpa) and a few other misc fields while the end of term has end of term data (credit hours per term, end of term gpa, etc). I cleaned up a lot of the code too and it runs a quicker.
I added fees and fee type to the online schedule of classes for the registrar's office. I also disabled the display of WL (waitlist) and XL (cross lists) in banner web course search via 2 gtvsdax rules: DISPWL = NO, DISPXL = NO.

Work Report
Some of the things I've been working on lately...
I did a non-standard update to TBBEACT and TBRACCT on 2-23-07 for the Business Office to set the effective dates back to 01-01-1980 for some new detail codes that needed to be back dated. A copy of the scripts are in the programming request booklet.
Updated the email update and section tally to include spring and summer terms.
While I was working on a fix for SZRFORN so that it didn't include credit hours for students that cancelled or withdrew, I found a problem with both the clearing house script and our research table script. Both of these were counting credit hours for students that withdrew before the 4th week, which is not consistant with Scarf and IPEDS reporting. I fixed both of these scripts so that they don't count those credit hours.
The online survey that pops up during registration seems to be producing some duplicate entries for the same student. It could be a web issue (possibly double clicking the button or time-out issue). For now, I'm having it select rownum 1 when it looks in the users table for the vnumber.
There was a problem with the student email update procedure that was causing more than one email record to have the preferred indicator turned on if the student already had it selected as preferred for an ADMS email type. This will cause problems with some of the baseline banner apps so I wrote some new logic in the procedure so that it now checks for existing preferred indicators and turns them off whenever an update is made to goremal table.
Joe and I switch all the cron jobs from wolfman to winchester.
Did several reports this week -
Woodburn students report for Registrar's Office.
List of non-admits for fall and winter terms with course information for Admissions.
Added email addresses to Josten's graduation report for Registrar.
Report for table SMRSSUB for Registrar's office.
Schedule of classes with start and end dates for Financial Aid.

PL/SQL Errors/Debugging messages enable on WOUDEV
I contacted ETS today to get the PL/SQL error page to display on web in WOUDEV for debugging purposes. If the oracle error page does not display on a broken app, you might have to enable the display of error messages in IE7. To do this, go to Tools, Internet Options, Advanced, then turn off "show friendly HTTP error messages".
