Week 31
I've managed to get the Account Lookup program modified so that it will always ask the user to acknowledge the Acceptable Use Policy as well as a second step where they again check they understand their computer usage will be monitored. All this information is now recorded in LDAP with the date. I made sure the date is not updated until after the user has changed their password, as that is the date that my next program uses to notify them of their password expiration.
The password expiration notification procedure will be run nightly (when put into production) to notify all users who's password will be expiring in 1 month, 2 weeks, 1 week, 3 days, and 1 day. Once the password expires, their accounts (AD & LDAP) will be lock and no longer accessible until they have changed their password through http://www.wou.edu/accountlookup. The email will look something like this:
Dear <User>,
Your Western Oregon University Account with the username <username> is about
to expire. Please change your password by going to
http://www.wou.edu/accountlookup. If you do not change your password by
<date> your account will be locked.
If you have any questions or need assistance, please call the University Computing
Service Request Desk by email: helpdesk@wou.edu or phone: 503-833-8925.
Thank you,
Computing Services
I also managed to install the newest WebLEDS update package on burns and sent out a message to all the WebLEDS users to not input data into the new fields until LEDS has sent out word that they have activated these new fields.
