I started my week out by viewing an online live demo for CORE Impact, a company my predecessor had contacted about a penetration testing software. Very snazzy, but I believe it's a bit out of our budget. I also came back to a new project ... EDsmart. Apparently a project worked on for years for the College of Education, but was never completed. Now they would like me to finish it up and or fix it. As the code is an absolute nightmare, on first blush it actually looks like it would just be easier to re-write the entire application! This is no small task, plus there's a nasty looming deadline for audits, so they want to be able to pull reports from this application soon.
Tuesday, I finally got to meet with Kimber. She was specifically hired to get this working.
Mtg w/ Kimber included:
-reviewed project and layout, direction, forms
-how I get an accnt to look around
-Mark's documents that were left (left w/ Kimber in her office)
-reviewed numerous bugs & where the worst/most were - SPED
-also least amount of the forms where done for SPED
-Kimber mostly works in TED section
-had Karen Johnson send me electronic version (pdf) of all the forms that should be in edsmart
-told forms change constantly - how do we incorporate that aspect without having a
-programmer deal w/ it all the time?
added Lynne Lindsay to user/faculty list
Was able to track who has added new students (96) since 1/1/07:
-Faculty Merriman Beverly
-Administrator - Staff Johnson Karen
-Administrator - Faculty Townsend Kimberly
-Administrator - Staff Hancock Vanessa
Fixed issue of no drop down list of faculty for Beverly - due to permissions. Gave her admin access.
