Fruits are a wonderful addition to any lunch or can be used as a great snack. Some examples of fruits are apples, oranges, bananas, watermelon, and strawberries. carbohydrates are found in fruits providing you with a great source of fuel. Fruits provide important vitamins, such as vitamin C. Vitamin C keeps your immune system strong and healthy. Doctors suggest that your daily intake should include 2-4 servings from this group. Note that this is more than many of the other groups.

Some examples of a serving size are:

  • 3/4 cup fruit juice
  • 1 medium size apple, orange, or banana
  • 1/2 cup cooked or canned fruits
