Presentation Assignment and Rubric
The purpose of this exercise is to help you with your planning for technology-infused assignments. For this exercise, you are to assume the role of a classroom teacher designing an activity that makes use of PowerPoint to present information on a given topic or concept.
1) Begin by stating your objective: “Using PowerPoint, students will present …”
What topic should you choose? Actually, just about any grade and content appropriate topic will be fine for a presentation.
2) Set your parameters for the presentation:
“The presentation must be ___ slides or ___ minutes in length. You will be required to have ___ points per page (or conversely, no more than ___ points per page).”
“The presentation must use a different transition for each slide …” or “The presentation must use a consistent transition and build for each slide…”
“The presentation must have ___ of visuals (specify clipart, charts, photos, diagrams, etc) that illustrate the concept.
3) Create a rubric with a scale of at least 3 (for example: excellent, satisfactory, unsatisfactory) that measures at least 4 aspects of your students’ presentations. Your rubric will look something like this:
Remember, the table cell for each respective score will articulate what standards have to be met (or, conversely, what standards were not met) to achieve that score.
