The Library encourages WOU faculty and students to suggest for purchase specific books or audiovisual materials that support teaching and research on campus. Suggestions in History and Creative Arts can be sent directly to Shirley Lincicum. Suggestions in other subject areas should be submitted to the appropriate faculty liaison or via the Library's online suggestion form. Before submitting a suggestion, you may wish to search WOLF by title or author to verify that we do not already own the item. Please help us out by including as much accurate bibliographic information as possible. You can use Books in Print or WorldCat to obtain complete citations for most materials.
Purchases for Reserves
WOU teaching faculty may request that the library purchase books or audiovisual materials to be placed on reserve for their classes. Purchase requests in History and Creative Arts should be submitted to Shirley as early as possible, preferably at least ten weeks prior to the beginning of the term in which the book will be needed. The more time we have, the more likely we are to be able to obtain, catalog, and process the book in time for your class to use it. When submitting a reserves purchase request, please specify the department, course number, and instructor of the course and the term in which the course will be taught. To request that materials already owned by the library be placed on reserve, contact Sean O'Neill at oneills@wou.edu or 503-838-8818.

Librarians provide instruction in library and research skills on an individual basis and in pre-arranged group sessions. Students and faculty in History and Creative Arts are encouraged to schedule an appointment with Shirley Lincicum for individualized assistance, or to drop by during her reference desk hours for some quick help. Teaching faculty in History and Creative Arts should also contact Shirley to schedule library instruction sessions for their classes.
