I finally got the ebrary administrative login from Camila today, and I downloaded the August 2008 MARC record set that they provide to subscribers at no additional charge. Took a quick glance at the records in MarcEdit. The first thing I noticed is that Serials Solutions lists 38,421 titles in the Academic Complete collection, but the August 2008 MARC record set includes only 36,542 bibliographic records. I could not locate a title list on the ebrary public or administrative sites, so I don't have a method of verifying the title count. The main problem with loading the full records is the impact that loading 36,000+ full MARC records will have on our authority control process (headings reports). We will need to break the large set down into smaller chunks (can the system handle 5,000 at a time?) and manage the load carefully in order to avoid overloading either the bibtemps file or the headings reports.
