Requesting in the OPAC
For overview of system settings, see: manual page # 101208
Complete the Request worksheet and submit to III helpdesk
When III notifies us that the Request rule file is ready, review it to verify that they entered data as we requested. Contact helpdesk if needed to make updates or corrections. We don't have write access to this file because we have not purchased ASAA
Configure Hold Pickup Locations table in Millennium Circulation
Review and configure the following WWW options:
REQUESTING: (page #106928)
- BIBREQUEST: false (required to prevent requests on bibs with no attached item or order records (mostly electronic resources)
- REQUEST: Request this item|system|home|Y
PATRON RECORD
- BUT_PAT_HOLDS (accept default and set to inactive)
- BUT_UPDATE_HOLDS (accept default)
- CHANGE_HOLD_LOC (true)
- FREEZE_HOLDS (false)
- HOLD_MSG_SIMPLE (F)
- ICON_SORTPUDATE (add title attribute)
- ICON_SORTREQDATE (add title attribute)
- SEEPUDATE (true)
Configure the following System/OPAC options:
Requests: Which item (ANY)
Requests: Pickup location (Patron home library)
Requests: Patron Eligibility determined by (P TYPE)
Requests: Eligible patrons (list of eligible P TYPEs)
Requests: Message for patrons denied access (customized)
Requests: Amount to charge (Not set)
Requests: Message to agree to charge (N/A)
Patron can cancel own holds (Yes)
Enable request button suppression for non-requestable materials (Yes)
Configure following System/Circulation options:
042 > Holds: Number of holds before minimum use used for due date (blank)
043 > Holds: Number of holds before purchase alert(3)
044 > Holds: Additional patron fields to show in requests(NONE)
045 > Holds: Print hold cancel notice when cancelling hold(ALWAYS)
046 > Holds: Title level hold even if only one copy (NO)
047 > Holds: Display barcode of items on holdshelf (NO)
048 > Holds: Streamline multiple holds for 1 patron(YES)
049 > Holds: Give precedence to local holds(NO) -- no required when HOLD_MSG_SIMPLE = F
