- Creating single unit models (models for 1) that can be used to model more than one fraction at a time, in particular you should understand how to do this as a preliminary step to modeling the addition or subtractions of fractional numbers.
- Adding and subtracting fractions using wooden blocks and Cuisenaire Rods.
- Using and recognizing appropriate fraction terminology and appropriate manipulative terminology when describing how to modeling fraction addition and subtraction with manipulatives.
- Using Cuisenaire Rods to determine the Least common Denominator of two unlike fractions.

- Modeling solutions to multiplication sentences of the form (a/b) of (c/d) = ? where a, b, c & d are whole numbers with b and d nonzero, with wooden blocks and Cuisenaire Rods.
- Modeling solutions to division sentences of the form c ÷ (a/b) = ? where a, b & c are whole numbers with b nonzero, with wooden blocks and Cuisenaire Rods
- Modeling solutions to division sentences of the form (a/b) ÷ (c/d) = ? where a, b, c & d are non zero whole numbers with b and d nonzero, with wooden blocks and Cuisenaire Rods
