Revised schedule of tasks:

Final paper (mathematical or geographic, but ideally a combination of both) about six to ten pages Due the final meeting of the class 20 percent
Final exam (take-home) Due in finals week 15 percent
Midterm exam April 28th 20 percent
Short essays (1,000 words) April 21st 10 percent
Summaries of readings (about 350 words each) Due before class discussions commence on the assigned chapters from the Wilford book 10 percent
Lab exercises   15 percent
Class participation   10 percent

The rubric for evaluating and scoring the final paper:

Content and Organization
(weighted at 60%)
Writing
(weighted at 30%)
Format
(weighted at 10%)
Introduction
Thesis
Body
Conclusion
Flows together
Transitions (sentences and paragraphs)
Grammar (including spelling and punctutation)
