Marion County public works is seeking college students who want to work as temporary hires this summer.
The program will place 25 students in a number of public works jobs, including road maintenance flagging, ferry toll taker/bridge crew, clerical, engineering and surveying, computer support and parks.  Pay ranges from $8.35 to $9.20 per hour.
Although the idea is to provide students with money for college, the money earned doesn’t have to be spent on books or tuition.  It’s a summer job, but only students enrolled in a college or university program are eligible.
The program is meant to encourage continuing education.

Summer Field Assistant
Western Ecology Division
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency

Position Description:  Work with a multi-disciplinary team of scientists studying juvenile coho distribution, growth, and survival in the West
Fork Smith River watershed in coastal Oregon.  Research activities focus on the interactive effects of habitat structure, temperature, nutrients, and
flow.  Field activities this summer will include snorkeling, PIT tagging, benthic invertebrate sampling, habitat surveys, and temperature
monitoring.  Fisheries background and prior field experience desirable but not required.
