There is a plan in place that when completed will provide 100% wireless coverage to campus, internal and external. Current locations that have some wireless coverage include: APSC, Natural Science, HSS, Education, Werner University Center, Hamersly Library, New PE and the Stadium. APSC is the only location that has complete coverage.
There is currently one exterior antenna in place on top of ITC. There is another exterior antenna scheduled to go on top of APSC within the next few weeks.
The Cisco 1200 access points with 802.11 a/b/g radios are being installed in all new locations. Existing Cisco 1200 access points with only the b radio will be upgraded to include g and a radios. Both b and g operate in the 2.4Ghz range and 8.2.11a operates at 5Ghz. Initially, b and g will provide full coverage. 802.11a doesn't provide the range of 802.11b/g. 802.11a is not a vulnerable to outside interference.
Wireless coverage maps may be found here. The APSC coverage map was done before all access points were in place. Another exterior site survey will be completed once the access point is installed on the roof of APSC.

Bill, way to go ... :-)
The blogs you maintain will be a wonderful way for users and UCS to communicate.
What plans are there to put a wireless node in Todd Hall. I picked up a network in the front of the building, but there is nothing in the middle or the rear. It would be great to have a WiFi connection in Todd Hall, especially in the Psychology area.
Before wireless is installed into Todd Hall the network switch needs to be replaced with one that allows multi-VLANs. Wireless resides on a separate subnet from wired connections for security purposes. This equipment has been ordered and should be here shortly. Full coverage in Todd Hall should be complete within the next 2-3 months.
