Thin clients -- the next level

Jonathan Swartz of Sun Microsystems has posted a very interesting blog concerning acceleration of Microsoft interoperability in the Sun hardware environment.

WOU has utilized thin-clients in multiple locations on campus for the last year. To date, the major utilization has been the web browser environment in WUC second floor stand-up stations and Administration building main entrance. In the APSC main lab, the Microsoft Office suite is available on the thin-clients.

UCS will perform testing of the Tarantella application that Jonathan reviews in his blog. Testing will include such features as hardware fail-over and load-balancing, USB memory-stick support and of course Microsoft application support.
