I have spent more than four decades as a photojournalist. I've ranged from Siberia to Seattle, Tokyo to Tillamook, Blazer games to Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, Volcanic eruptions to rock show mosh pits. I've met the Dalai Lama and President Gerald Ford. I've had Karl Malone and Shaquille O'Neal crash down atop me, and I've been scolded from the stage by Joan Baez and Bonnie Raitt. The majority of my newspaper years were as a staff photographer on the Oregonian, where I handled the entire spectrum of news assignments, often learning new technologies and improvising around obstacles on the fly, in the midst of chaos.
