This course looks at U.S.-Canada relations with a particular focus on the meaning and significance of the border, Canadian struggles with U.S. political, economic, and cultural influence, and the efforts of Canadians to forge an unique international identity in the face of U.S. proximity and hegemony.

Format: The class will be conducted as a 'readings course', meaning that students will work through class material independently, but in consultation with, and within a framework established by, the professor. Sharing and discussion will occur through periodic meetings and online. |
