Assignments

For students enrolled in GEOG 412 (CRN: 10341), I will assess your learning in this class from the following assignments (for details about how these assessments will be reflected in grading, go here):

  1. Questioning & analyzing media. This assignment is an opportunity to question and analyze the role of media in affecting human experiences of space and place, particularly through self-observation and reflection. Details for this assigmment will be provided on Moodle. But, generally, will entail gathering and analyzing data on your own media use and reflecting on how that use affects your experiences of space and place.
  2. Reading response. Each week, starting with week 2, I will post guidelines for critically responding to assigned reading. Reading responses will provide opportunnities to address course learning goals and also to practice key features of Integrative Learning and Inquiry & Analysis.
  3. In-class writing. Each class meeting will entail in-class writing assignments, particularly to start and wrap up discussion. If you miss a class meeting, you can arrange to make up the In-class writing by contacting me as soon as possible, preferably the same day. If there is no time for In-class writing on a given day, you will get credit for attendance. Make-up guidelines will still apply. In-class writing is an opportunity to practice key features of Integrative Learning, particularly reflection and self-assessment.

For students enrolled in GEOG 512 (CRN: 10346), I will assess your learning in this class from the above assignments and an additional project that you will plan and design in consulation with me (for details about how these assessments will be reflected in grading, go here).
