Readings

There are two required texts for this class:

Anne Allison, Millennial monsters: Japanese toys and the global imagination (Berkeley: University of California Press, 2006). Referred to as "Allison" on the course calendar.

Gerard Goggins, Cell phone culture: mobile technology in everyday life (New York: Routledge, 2006). Referred to as "Goggins" on the course calendar.

Jan Nederveen Pieterse, Globalization and culture: global mélange (Lanham, MD: Rowman and Littlefield, 2004). Referred to as "Pieterse" on the course calendar.

There will also be occasional supplemental readings. These will indicated and made available as needed. Reading assignments are indicated on the course calendar and should be completed by the day under which they are listed.
