Guten Tag und welcome to German at WOU!

Teaching is my passion and students are family. I know what it takes to learn a language -

as a teen I moved from Germany to France, where I had to learn French and English, and then to the States. After graduating from the University of California, Berkeley, with degrees in German and Political Science I earned a teaching certificate, an M.A. and a Ph.D. in German at the University of Oregon.

Family drama, the role of women, and culture are among my scholarly interests.

My husband and I have two children and three grandchildren and we support two cats and various outdoor critters. We are avid environmentalists and fitness enthusiasts. I own Jazzercise Salem Center and teach there four nights a week.

Tip to my students: stay healthy and focused.

Berlin Express, 2012

This will be a non-credit tour for a group of no more than ten who wish

to experience Christmas in Germany. Travel and lodging will be arranged

by Dr. Hoobler and interested students should reserve a spot as soon
