English 106: Syllabus & Texts -- Fall 2007

Required Texts:

  • Caplan, David. Poetic Form: An Introduction. Pearson/Longman, 2007.
' You will also need access to a good hard-cover dictionary; some CD-ROM dictionaries are okay. Essentially, you need a dictionary that goes beyond the one or two meanings most familiar, with some historical (archaic/old-fashioned) meanings included.
Also, I will occasionally provide students with additional poems not in the textbook; you ARE responsible for knowing these for the exams.
