Enterprise Project Management

In preparation for the North West Commission on Colleges and Universities site visit in April 2007, UCS is looking for Enterprise Level project management software to facilitate the process of accreditation. In order to select the best software package I have developed a list of functional requirements, being as this list is not all inclusive if there are other requirements that individuals would like to see in the project management software please feel free to contact me.

Enterprise Project Management Software functional requirements:

•Robust document library
o Concurrent versioning
o Check out – check in process
o Version control
•Time Lines
o Gant charts
•Milestones
o Ability to indicate key project points
•Task Assignments
o Ability to assign task to individual, groups, and sub groups
•Dependencies
o Ability to indicate which tasks are dependent on other tasks
•Progress reporting
o % completion
o Ability to show tasks that are falling behind
o Ability to show tasks that are behind schedule
•Communication system
o Ability to facilitate communication and collaboration
•User friendly
•Cost effective
•Supportable
o Does not require extensive support over a long period of time.
•Cross platform support
o Server portion resides on Sun Solaris
o Client side can support Win2000/XP, Mac, Linux

As I find and review software packages I will compare them against this list and others requirements as they become available.

NFADB Website Migration

One of the first milestones in the TRI migration has been completed. TRI host's several websites as part of their grants and contracts. Last Week Travis and I moved the virst of these (NFADB.org)to Sundown on a virtual server. This move went well with very few dificulties. Many thanks to Travis.

TRI Merger Plan

As of July 1st TRI computing services will be merged with UCS. This merger will provide enhanced services and resources for TRI staff. To ensure detailed communication regarding the merger I will be providing a road map and details regarding the merger on this blog.
