Here is a guide to walk you through all of the aspects of MML: Guide
MML - Orientation Assignment
Reading Homework
Read course syllabus
Read Section 1.1, Pages 2-8
For each "Reading homework" I recommend doing all of the examples on paper by-hand and ensuring that you understand why each step is being done. If you don't understand, write a note to yourself in the margin of your paper, and ask me and/or a tutor for clarification. This won't actually be collected for credit, but it will probably raise your overall course grade by at least 10 percentage points.
Read Section 1.2, Pages 12-19 - Learning about the "Standard Equation of a Circle" on page 19 is optional
Read pages 21-23 about "Graphing with a Calculator"
Read Pages AP-2 - AP-3 (these are pages near the back of the book in the Appendix A)

"Other" Homework
Complete this packet: Finding the Equation of a Parabola Packet - Due Tuesday, Oct 9
On parts "i" and "j", even if you’re going to not use an answer, you should still show your calculations all the way to the answer before throwing it out.
This packet might be due Tuesday, but if you don't at least start this now, you'll probably regret it.
If you're not sure how to get started on the packet, you may want to read the first part of Example 11, part "a" on page 781 (stop when they start talking about an augmented matrix). If you don't remember how to solve a system of three equations and three unknowns, check out Section 9.3, beginning on page 763.
Study for the Skills Test - On Monday, Oct 8, taking the skills test will also count as a quiz score, so you're aiming for 100% this time. If you scored higher the first time, that's unfortunate. The skills test is not information to do once and forget, but rather information that should be kept well-polished all term long. |

Read Section 4.3 - pg 282 - Just the part about the Remainder Theorem at the bottom of the page.
