As a general rule, I don't delete students from WebCT unless asked. Here's how you can remove students from a WebCT course yourself:
1. Once inside your WebCT course, click on Control Panel in the upper left.
2. Click on Manage Course.
3. Click on Manage Students.
4. Click on a student's name.
5. Click "Delete".
6. WebCT will ask you to confirm, and after you say yes, then the student has been removed from the course.
WOU Online is already proving to be a great resource for instructors. However, it's also a great tool if you're involved in a WOU committee, club, or organization. You could store meeting minutes and facilitate online discussions in a password-protected online environment. I've recently added a new course category, "WOU Committees, Clubs and Organizations," for this purpose. If you're interested in using it in this way, please contact me.
I'll be doing a brief workshop/demonstration of WOU Online (http://online.wou.edu) this Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. in HL108. Come find out what this new online course management system has to offer. You'll get a chance to create your own course shell and play around with many of the tools.
WOU Online uses a program known as Moodle, and it has many of the same features as WebCT (which the university still offers), but it is also configured so that you use the same login and password you use to login to the campus network. You can put course content in a password-protected environment, facilitate online discussions, and create multiple choice quizzes, among other things.
