Instructions

Paint the tiles above the color palette by dragging the left mouse inside the squares. Select a brush color by clicking inside the color palette. Double-click a tile to fill its entire area with a color. When you have painted the tiles, you can view the Cayley table or the quilt by using the View control at the top left (select Table or Quilt). The Operation control selects the operator used to make the Cayley table. The Quilt control selects the way the table is used to make the quilt.

Note : Your web browser needs the Java 2 Runtime Environment to view this applet. The Java 2 Plugin is available from java.sun.com. Googling 'installing Java Browser Plug-in' should give you adequate help. If you can't get Java 2, you can use the old version of the applet.

This applet is available free as a stand-alone application, which can be run outside of a web browser. To get it, download and save this jar archive file : CQM.jar You can run this jar file with the Sun Java Application Launcher (which should come with Java 2 plugin). Using the Save Image item in the View control, you can save the quilts in jpg, png or bmp format. To save an image file, you must grant file-writing permission to this applet. Read this page http://www.geocities.com/cayleyquilter/imgsave.html for help saving images.

Windows OS users can get the free user-friendly Windows version of this applet here : http://www.geocities.com/cayleyquilter/index.html The Windows version saves bmp images, and it has printer support and a help file.
