Text: Multivariable Calculus  concepts and contexts, 4th Edition, by James Stewart.

Graphing calculator: You need to have a graphing calculator. TI 83, 85, or 86 are good choices.

Course Prerequisite: Mth 252 with a grade of “C-” or higher or my consent.

Course Objectives:

Attendance: If you miss class, it is your responsibility to ask a classmate for notes on the material that you have missed. I will not have discussion notes available if you have missed class, nor will I repeat my discussion during office hours

Electronic Devices' Policy: Nonacademic electronic devices and tardiness policies: You are not allowed to use any nonacademic electronic devices (Ipod, MP3 players, cell phones, etc.) during the class time. If you bring your cell phone into the class, you MUST turn it off. If you need to have your cell phone on, you need to talk to me prior to class.

Exams: There will be three in class exams, Exam I on April 27th, Exam II on May 25th, and Exam III on June 8th.

There is no make-up for missed quizzes or exams

Grades will be assigned according to the following scale:
             A   90-100%
             B   80-89%
             C   70-79%
             D   60-69%
             F   30-59%

As any other mathematics course, math 253 is a difficult course. In a sense, it is one of the most difficult sophomore level courses. Just coming to class does not guarantee a passing grade. You should be actively involved in class. The following steps are absolutely necessary (but not sufficient) conditions to be successful in this class.
