Text: Discrete Mathematical, 7th Edition, by R. Johnsonbaugh.

Who: This class is intended for students who are majoring in Computer Science or Information Science.

Goal: We will cover most of the first four chapters.

Homework/Quiz: This course is scheduled for 4 weeks only. The homework is suggested every day. We will have 3 quizzes scheduled for 6/26, 7/3, and 7/10. The quizzes are based on the suggested homework problems for that week. The quizzes are posted on Moodle and they are timed. You have 24 hours window to take each quiz. Once you start the quiz, you have 1 hour to complete it. There will be no make up quizzes. I will not be able to open a quiz if you have not finished it. Plan accordingly so that you can finish the quiz once you have started it.

Final exams: The final exam is required for every enrolled student. This exam is proctored. If you live close to WOU campus, you may come on Friday 7/17/15 to Math & Nursing Building room 104 for the final exam. I announce the time as we get closer to the final exam date. If you live far from WOU campus, you need to contact a person in an official capacity to proctor the exam. Such person could be a librarian, a professor, or an office specialist at a higher education institution near you. The intended proctor have to agree to provide a suitably secure and quiet place for your exam. S/he has to have access to internet, a printer, and a scanner. Once you have identified the person, s/he must contact me via email and express her/his willingness to proctor the exam. It is your responsibility to contact her/him to schedule your final exam. Several days before the exam, I will send the exam to her/him. S/he will print the exam and proctor it for you on the day of the exam. Once, the exam is complete, s/he needs to scan the exam and send to me electronically. Since the final exam has 55% of the grade, you will not be able to pass the class without taking the final exam. Plan accordingly.

There is no make-up for a missed quiz or exam

Grading:
Quizzes            45% (three at 15% each)
     Final                 55%

Grades will be assigned (roughly) according to the following scale:
             A   90-100%
             B   80-89%
             C   70-79%
             D   60-69%
             F   30-59%

("+" and "-" will be decided at the end of the term.)
