Mid semester break

Mid semester break down unda! and am having a blast!! missing home but going to the great barrier reef was a blast!! I went with my girlfriend who came down to visit with her dad and brother we went all along the east coast of australia up to brisbane (pronounced brisbin) and then flew up to cairns. We went to the outer reef to snorkel. when we got back we went to my friend Liam’s house. He is the Head RA here where I stay. While there we were in the middle of the bush. So needless to say I saw many kangaroo and lots of other wildlife. today is the Grand Final for Rugby League. This is like their Super Bowl. Also Rugby League is much different than the Rugby we play at home. Also while at Liams house we watched the Grand final for Australian football. after monday school starts back up again. So back to doing homework. Missing back home but absolutely loving it here in Oz and enjoying the kangaroo burgers, tim tams and Vegimite!!

Classes

I have been here now for three almost four weeks. its been really hard adjusting to the classes here because the classes are much less structured. I asked my professor when our assignment was due and he told me that it will never be due because it is used to study. I wont have anything other than quizzes and tests. This is much different from classes back home where I would have an assignment each week. I was able to get down to the beach though. it is really beautiful water and sand here. with lots of surfers and swim baths. The beaches are very regulated too. My mates and I were told to get out of the rip tide by the lifeguard. They have flags posted all along the beach for safe swimming areas. Coffee shops are a big thing here too! These have come in handy when I was up late doing an assignment. Many of the terminology is different, things like “boot” instead of “trunk” and “bonnet” instead of “hood”. My mates give me a hard time for my accent too because I keep calling things what I normally call them back home. Overall I am having a great experience, lots of nice people and a good community in my dorm complex.

About to leave!

I am going to be leaving soon for the land of Oz! (Australia) I am really excited!! there are a few things that I can think of that I will be doing there or things that might be there. I know I will see a kangaroo there, also I think there wont be any cooperations there like walmart or fredmeyer. Also I am hoping the people there are friendly towards americans! I also think I will make a lot of new friends. and I am expecting everyone there to be surfers for the most part!
The next post I will have will be for week and I will be there in newcastle!!
