Grad profile: Megan Cabison

Megan Cabison

Megan Cabison is graduating from Western Oregon University with a double major in business management and communication studies, and a minor in entrepreneurship.

Cabison is from Hilo, Hawaii and chose to come to Western because of the undergraduate exchange program for Hawaiian students. She had never visited the university before move in day, but as soon as she stepped foot on campus, she knew this would be her “forever home.”

Cabison’s favorite lunch deal in Monmouth is Momiji’s Two for One Tuesdays, and favorite on-campus event is the Multicultural Student Union’s Nuestra Fiesta Latina. She enjoys studying on the second floor of Hamersly Library because of the large windows looking out over campus.

Cabison has enjoyed WOU for the opportunities it offered her, the people that surrounded her, and the sense of community she it gave her.

While at Western, Cabison joined the Kappa Delta Chi sorority and later became the Fraternity and Sorority Council president. She also focused her time to servicing those in need and went on many different service trips to locations like Reno, San Francisco, Seattle, India, and Dubai.

Cabison studied abroad in London, England during her undergrad education. When she returned to campus, Cabison had been to 11 different countries in just four months. She feels as though this experience allowed her to expand her personal growth, and is one of her fondest accomplishments. Because of studying abroad, Cabison says she has a new appreciation for life.

Cabison describes Western Oregon University as her “home away from home,” and will miss the students and faculty dearly. “They changed my life,” she states.

After graduation Cabison will be searching for her passion in life while exploring the world with fresh eyes.

She reminds incoming college students to not worry over things you cannot control–that everything will work out exactly how it is supposed to in the end.

Thank you for your time at WOU, Megan. Congratulations, you will be missed.
