Wolfie’s got a new look

Western Oregon University is thrilled to welcome its incoming student class. This year is particularly special as the class includes a “new face” for Waldo “Wolfie” Wolfe, the beloved WOU mascot. The old costume officially graduated with the class of 2015.

You have five opportunities this fall to check-out Wolfie’s new look. First is at the opening WOU football game on Saturday, Sept. 12. WOU will take on Simon Fraser University at 1 p.m. at McArthur Stadium.

Next is at FanFest – a fun event for the entire community. Meet WOU athletes & coaches, participate in games and grab food for purchase. Join the festivities on Thursday, Sept. 17 in The Grove at 5:30 p.m.

Third, Wolfie will join the other incoming students participating in various New Student Week activities, including Convocation, WUC Premier Night and more.

Wolfie will mingle with students at the WOU football game on Oct. 10, the first game when all students have returned to campus. The Wolves will play University of North Alabama at 1 p.m.

Finally, during Homecoming week you’ll have a chance to say goodbye to Wolfie ’15, who will return to campus as a member of our alumni. This will be the only official opportunity to see Wolfie’s two looks side-by-side. There will be a photo booth setup for anyone interested in getting your picture taken with both Wolfies.

In addition to Wolfie’s new appearance, the costume features fans and ice packs so Wolfie can stay cool on the sidelines, in the gym and during the 4th of July Parade as well as other activities and events around the community.

When you see Wolfie around town, please give a hug, high-five or take a selfie — #HowlAboutIt or #WOUWolves.
