Professional:

 

Alicia Wenzel is currently an Assistant Professor at Western Oregon University helping to prepare future teachers specializing in Curriculum and Assessment. She is an advocate for young adolescents, serving on professional organizations’ executive boards dedicated to middle level education.  Dr. Wenzel established the WOU COE Bridge Program in 2011which supports soon-to-be, beginning, and novice teachers and she continues to seek best practices that help K-12 teachers and students succeed. Research interests include supporting beginning teachers, technology in the classroom, and rigorous and relevant instructional and assessment practices. Alicia has been in higher education since 2004.

 

Prior to her work in higher education, she worked as a middle school and elementary educator for 10 years teaching primarily math and language arts to students in high needs, rural areas. Personal interests include traveling with her family, traveling, gardening, making soap and chap stick, kayaking, cooking (and eating), and playing badminton.
