Sustainability News!

 

The Werner University Center is committed to try and update the facility to save energy, water and other natural resources. Not only is it good for the environment, but it is also good for the student's pocketbooks! Our latest efforts include biodegradable and post-consumer recycled products used in the restrooms - biodegradable toilet seat covers and paper products made out of recycled materials.

 

Our partnership with the Green Wolf Sustainability Club continues to yield efforts across campus and in the WUC. A new shed for the Campus Garden was a part of the WUC's commitment to sustainability campus-wide!

 

Green Wolf Sustainability Club is an open minded group that works together to create sustainable changes, education, and events on the WOU campus. We also partner with neighboring communities.
Purpose: Create a more sustainable campus, town, lifestyle, and increase education about such things.
Meetings are held in the Klamath Room at 6pm on Thursdays for Spring Term 2013

This year Green Wolf co-sponsored Food Week, helped in garden weeding, held The Swap, and held a Bike Workshop.

 

 

Programs

 

The Werner University Center is establishing a number of continuing programs in the facility each year, working to make them better and more fun each year they occur! We feel that the WUC should be an energetic place where students and community members can have some levity on campus! As such, our programs for the year will be:

 

  • Premiere Night - Tuesday night of New Student Week - this is new student's program to explore the services of the WUC with free food, prizes, games and more!
  • Halloween - We decorate the building for Halloween week, offering up scary contraptions, images, sounds and more!
  • Holiday Decorating - As we near the winter holidays, the facility is decorated after Thanksgiving to show some holiday cheer.
  • Pirate Night - YAAAWWWRRRR! Look for the WUC to transform in a pirate way with food, music, and other pirate-related programming.
  • Hawaii Day - A Taste of the tropics with pineapple, music, decorations and other events! Come join us while the weather is still gloomy for some much-needed warmth and cheer!
  • WOUMania - WUC's traditional carnival program is a HUGE hit with 700 people participating in games, activities, food, prizes and so much more. Click here to go to the WOUMania homepage!
