Discover Leadership

Discover Leadership is a new program at Western Oregon created to help students, who may have limited experience with leadership, learn essential skills to increase their confidence and enhance their knowledge, as well as to prepare them for different leadership opportunities on campus.

When: Students will meet once a week throughout fall and winter terms. Each session will focus on a new topic with a diferent on-campus presenter. The first session will be October 21 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. The program concludes in late January at Focus on Leadership.

Who: Any student who wants to enhance their leadership skills! The program is geared towards students who do not have a lot of leadership experiences and are new to WOU.

Why: This is a great stepping stone to becoming an RA, PLUS Team Peer Advisor, Summer Bridge leader, or participant in any other leadership opportunity on campus. It’s also a great way to meet new friends and learn about campus resources.

Cost: FREE! All participants that complete all the workshops will be invited to an off-campus retreat in January. There is no cost to the participants.

Discover Leadership is a program designed to give students a feel of what it takes to be a leader. Over the course of three months, the participants will attend seven workshops on different topics that will give them the tools to be successful leaders on and off WOU campus. All workshops take place on Tuesdays from 5:30-7:00 in the Santiam Room of the Werner University Center. Feel free to bring food!
