Keep in mind the following basic information regarding the break:
- The Residence Halls will close at 5:00 pm, Friday, December 9, 2011
- Valsetz Dining Hall closes at 5:00 pm, Friday, December 9, 2011
- There will be NO Food Service until Noon, Sunday, January 8, 2012
- The Wolf Express will be open in the WUC, 7:30 am - 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday - with the exception of the campus closure dates: December 23, 2011 - Jan. 2, 2012.
Student Meal Cards will work for purchases here during this time period, but keep in mind that WINTER TERM Meal Plan dollars will NOT be added until after the Holiday Break.
- Students may stay in their residential rooms during this break. With the exception of Arbor Park residents, student accounts will be billed for $200.00 for staying for all or any part of the break.
- Students wishing to stay during the break must sign up to do so on the wou portal at: http://www.wou.edu/wouportal/ before 4:30 pm on Tuesday, December 6, 2011.
- Extra Security Students who wish to have a "lockout" device placed on their door, or have their locks placed in lockout mode (for electronic locks)for extra security must request to do so in writing in the University Housing office before 4:30 pm on Tuesday, December 6, 2011. All occupants of the room must sign the lockout request sheet if a lockout device is requested.
PLEASE NOTE: To keep residences secure, it is vital for University Housing staff to know who is on campus during the break. If you have not signed up on the WOU Portal to stay over for Winter Break you will not be able to access your room/apartment until Noon, on January 2nd, 2012.
If you MUST access your room/apartment before Noon on January 2nd, you will need to contact University Housing, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The University Housing & Campus Dining Office will be open the following hours during the break:
- December 12-16: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
- December 19-22: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
- December 23- January 2: CLOSED - ALL CAMPUS CLOSURE
- January 3-6: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
DURING WINTER BREAK - PLEASE NOTE: University Housing will be CLOSED along with the entire campus DEC 23, 2011-JAN 2, 2012. NO Check Outs or access to halls at this time. Please plan accordingly.
- ROOM VACANCIES If you have a vacancy in your room at the end of Fall Term and do not request to close down your room prior to leaving for the break, you must have your room ready to be occupied by a new student.
"Ready" means one bed, wardrobe, set of drawers, desk, desk chair, bookshelves and nightstand are completely free of your or any other person's belongings. All furnishings should be placed so that they are ready to use - NO bunking or combining of any kind, and floor space is clear.
Failure to leave your room ready for a new student will result in a single room charge and disciplinary action.
Rooms will be checked for readiness and photographed for documentation purposes by staff during the break. Any violations of Residential policies or procedures will also be documented at this time.
- MEAL PLAN CHANGES Meal Plan changes for Winter Term must be in writing, and
cannot be accepted after Noon, January 5, 2012. You may email your Meal Plan Change request to housing@wou.edu.
- CHECK OUT DURING THE BREAK If during the break a decision is made to check out of the residence halls, begin the process by contacting University Housing 1-877-877-1593, housing@wou.edu.
You must complete the check out/move out process by 4:00 pm, Thursday, January 5, 2012.
Failure to check out properly from your residence hall room may result in additional charges to your account.
YOU MUST BE PRESENT TO CHECK OUT OF YOUR RESIDENTIAL ROOM
REMEMBER - NO Check Outs or access to halls during the campus closure, DEC 23, 2011-JAN 2, 2012. Please plan accordingly.
- Students checking out on or after January 8, 2012 will be charged for a minimum of the first 10 days of Winter Term.
- The Residence Halls will re-open at Noon on Sunday January 8, 2012.
