PLANNING ON LIVING ON-CAMPUS THIS SUMMER?
Here are some answers to frequently asked questions about the Summer Stayover Program
- HOW DO I KNOW IF I AM A SUMMER STAYOVER OR A SUMMER SCHOOL STUDENT?
If you were a resident during the 2014-2015 Academic Year and have Renewed your housing to live on-campus for the coming academic year, YOU ARE ELIGIBLE TO BE A SUMMER STAYOVER RESIDENT.
Your account will be billed each month for the entire summer and you will be paying "rent" at the first of each month. You are NOT required to attend classes during this time period (though you are welcome to do so
if you wish) to live on-campus. (Summer School residents will only live on-campus for a set time-period during the summer (and be billed ONLY for that time period). Summer school residents are REQUIRED to attend
classes to live on-campus, and are NOT required to renew their academic year housing for the coming year).
- WHERE WILL I LIVE?
You will be living in Arbor Park - specific Hall to be determined.
- WHEN CAN I MOVE INTO MY SUMMER APARTMENT?
We expect residents to move to their Summer housing on Wednesday, June 17. Please go to the RSC between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. to get your summer room keys and receive moving instructions. You will need to be
moved out of your old room no later than 9 a.m. on Thursday, June 18.
- WHERE DO I LIVE BETWEEN JUNE 12th AND JUNE 17th?
You will stay in your current room. You will checkout ONLY ON PAPER (see bullet below) on Friday the 12th, but will stay in your current room until Early Move-in Day, June 17th. NOTE: You should keep your
belongings somewhat packed up and ready to move during this time period as you WILL be moving into your summer accommodations in just a few days. REMEMBER YOU ARE STILL RESPONSIBLE FOR
LEAVING YOUR CURRENT ROOM CLEAN AND READY FOR NEW OCCUPANTS!
- WHAT ABOUT CHECKING OUT OF MY CURRENT ROOM?
At the end of Spring Term, you will complete and sign off on the checkout paperwork as if you were actually leaving the residence halls - but you won't ACTUALLY move until June 17th. YOU NEED TO GO
THROUGH THE PROCESS AS IF YOU WERE CHECKING OUT FOR THE SUMMER. You will sign-up for a check-out appointment with an RA (Sign-up lists will be posted in the lobby or lounge of your hall).
You do not have to have all of your belongings boxed up at this time, but the RA will need to be able to see most of the spaces in your room, and your room should be relatively clean to complete the paperwork for
a check-out - a Room Condition Report (RCR). Once the RA has inspected your room, you will sign the RCR to show your agreement of the condition you will leave the room. You will keep your key and remain in
your room until June 17th. Then on June 17th you will go to the RSC where you will receive your keys to your summer space and instructions on completing the move.
- WHAT ABOUT CHECKING OUT OF MY SUMMER ROOM AT THE END OF THE SUMMER?
You will check into your Fall space with our Early Arrivals, tentatively scheduled for Friday, September 11, 8 a.m to 5:00 p.m. You will move your stuff into your new room and then go back to the
RSC to checkout of your summer room. Following is the tentative timeline for this process:
- STARTING AT 8 a.m. ON FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 11th - Please go to the RSC in the morning. Staff will be on hand to check you into your new room (the room that you
have been assigned to for the 2015-2016 academic year).
- Move all of your stuff by 5:00 p.m.
- Go to the RSC to sign your RCR for your summer room and turn in your summer keys.
IMPORTANT: You must still go through the checkout and check-in processes even if your new (2015-2016 academic year) room is the same as your summer room!
