Prospective Students

Because of the educational value of on-campus living, all single freshmen without dependents and who enter WOU within one year of high school graduation are required to spend their first year in university-operated housing. WOU offers a variety of accommodations for on-campus living. All rooms, suites and apartments are set up for occupants of the same gender. Availability of specific options is subject to demand and facility designation.

Freshman Live-In Requirement

First year students who enroll at WOU within one year of high school graduation regardless of class standing must live on campus for the full academic year (Fall, Winter and Spring terms). Exceptions to this requirement may be requested by petition. Exceptions that are generally approved are as follows:

  • Living at Home with Parents, within a 30 mile radius of WOU.
  • Having a Dependent that is living with you.
  • Marriage.

Other exceptions will be evaluated, but are generally not approved. If waiver of the live-in requirement is approved a $7.00/day cancellation fee for each day remaining in the contract will be applied to the student's account.
