Resources for Parents & Families of WOU Students from Hawaii
This page is the starting point for the parents and families of Hawaii students going to Western Oregon University! It was from family feedback during a SOAR program in Hawaii that we were told of the need for Hawaii parents to be able to meet, network and discuss issues related to Hawaii students attending WOU.
Listserv for Hawaii Parents:
One resource that WOU has set up for parents and family members is a discussion board, or listserv, that serves as a way for you to contact others! Here is the link to the Hawaii Parents Club listserv:
You can create any topic you want! Topics that you can discuss include travel arrangements, adjustment to the mainland, maintaining student-parent communication or anything else that might be needed.
Also, people can subscribe themselves to the list by going to the link above and following the directions. To send a message to the list, just send it to email@example.com.

Questions from Hawaii Parents:
If you have questions, this is the section where we will answer them!
What can we do about the huge cost for airline tickets? Can my daughter come back to school a little later in order to save a lot of money on airfare?
While classes start after winter break on Monday, January 5th. Students need to contact professors if they intend to return after the start of classes or risk being automatically dropped if the student doesn't show! We would prefer students returning in time for the first day of class each term, but contact professors if that isn't a possibility.
