Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration

This annual week-long event celebrates the legacy of Dr. King and promotes diversity by engaging our community in topics such as social justice, nonviolent social change, and equality for all. Events range from our annual Commemorative Dinner to the Nonviolence/Social Justice Student Essay Competition.

Monday Jan. 19th

- Service Project: Union Gospel Mission - Salem, Oregon 10:00am-2:00pm. Interested volunteers can sign up at the SLCD office. Please sign up by Wednesday, January 14th. Transportation provided by Wolf-Ride/Office of Vice President of Student Affairs.

- "Poverty Simulation" facilitated by Dr. Doris Cancel-Tirado. This simulation will take participants deeper into the every day life and challenges experienced by low income families.

Commemorative Dinner [Keynote Address and Presentation of Essay Contest Winner].

Keynote Address will be provided by Mr. Vernon, Founding Faculty member and Facilitator of the Social Justice Training Institute. Founded in 1998, the Social Justice Training Institute works toprovide a forum for professional and personal development of social justice educators and practitioners to enhance and refine their skills.
